Launched in late 2017, HOA Community Links was born out of an unsuccessful partnership – a partnership which lacked a shared vision and excitement about the Association Management industry as well as having open arms to embrace new technology as it became available.
HOA Community Links is a small, locally-owned and Owner-operated, boutique Association Management firm. Offering full service, financial only services and a hybrid - based on your Association's unique needs, we are dedicated to serving our clients like we would want to be served if we were the Board members.
In fact we have over 13 years experience serving on HOA Boards! That and nearly 30 years experience working in Association Management
Matt’s experience on the Board side of the table brings us a unique perspective that many management firms don’t share – sitting in the shoes of the Board Members and understanding their wants and needs. Many of the policies implemented at HOA Community Links are the direct result of that Board Member experience.
Our experience on the management side, including Cristy McKinney’s serving on the Central Indiana Chapter of the Community Association Institute (CAI)'s Legislative Action Committee, means that you have seasoned veterans helping you along the way.
At HOA Community Links, we’re not just the Link between the Board and the members of the Association, we are much more. We are partners – in it for the long haul.
We invite you to get to know us better by reading a little more about us below. Once you’re done, feel free give us a call or drop us an email and see how our decades of experience can help you and your community’s unique needs.

Matt is a life-long Indianapolis area resident.
Matt Lives in Westfield, with his wife Amy and has two children, Colby and Cate.
Matt was involved in the family video rental business in high school before leaving for school to study Business Administration. He returned to the family business after college where, through 1997, he served as general manager. In 1997, he purchased the business to become its owner.
Seeing the writing on the wall for the industry due to new ventures like NetFlix and something called streaming, Matt secured his real estate license in 2001 and then his Broker’s license in 2002.
With a retail business background and a career in residential real estate, Matt joined his own HOA’s Board of Directors in 2004, where he served as president for 13 years. He also served as treasurer for a majority of that same period.
During that same period, Matt co-founded and built a grass-roots charity with his wife and children.
Serving Indiana children with life-threatening diseases and life-altering conditions, Colby & Cate’s Charities would go on to donate approximately $1.2 million to local hospitals, their patients and other local, worthy organizations with the similar missions, before wrapping up operations recently. Like with his own community, Matt was the treasurer for this organization for their nearly 20-year run in fundraising
.
Dissatisfied with the service received from multiple management companies in his own community, in 2010, Matt partnered up with an industry veteran and together they opened their own Association Management company.
Like management companies with their clients as well as vendors and homeowners, it’s all about the right partnerships and relationships.
By 2017, something was missing in the partnership. Due to different visions for the future, Matt and his then partner amicably separated and in December 2017, Matt founded HOA Community Links – offering comprehensive solutions and options for Homeowner and Condominium Associations.
By March of 2018, HOA Community Links had signed its first 4 clients and was off and running as a boutique association management company – offering a variety of services including: Financial Management, Full-Service Community Management and even a hybrid of the two, based on the unique needs of its clients.
But something was still missing. It wasn’t not finding the right staff. It was findingthe right partner with the same, shared vision for the future. With his sights set for several years, Matt aggressively pursued an extremely talented individual who had worked her way up from the best community manager Matt had ever worked with in his 13 years serving on his board to the Indianapolis Division President of a national Association Management firm.
In fall of 2023, after years of pursuit, Matt finally got his wish. She said yes to the new address and agreed to become a partner at HOA Community Links, bringing with her a wealth of additional experience, ideas and much more.
Matt is excited to expand HOA Community Links with his business partner Cristy McKinney, while maintaining customized services for each of their client’s unique needs while focusing on customer service, relationships and partnerships.

Cristy is a lifelong Indianapolis resident and currently lives on the Northside of Indy with her husband Brandon, and their 3 children, Tucker, Lewis and Auriana.
After graduating from Indiana University in the early 2000s, Cristy jumped right into the property management industry, working with residential rentals in downtown Indianapolis. She quickly fell in love with Real Estate and got her license in 2004, then would go on later to secure her Managing Broker’s Real Estate License, which she maintains to this day.
When Cristy met her husband in 2008, she was working in the Relocation Department of a large Real Estate firm in Carmel, Indiana, and dropped everything to move to Tacoma, Washington where she would get married, be an Army wife for several years, and have her first child, Tucker.
She worked as an apartment complex manager in Washington, but once Tucker arrived was able to stay at home as a new Mom while her husband Brandon served 4 years as a soldier in the US Army.
In 2011, Cristy and her family moved back to Indianapolis where she found a job with Sentry Management as a Community Association Manager. Without having ever lived in a homeowners association, the concept was new, and there was a lot to learn. She started with overseeing half a dozen communities and gradually built her portfolio up over the course of almost 7 years to managing 11 communities.
In 2018, Cristy was promoted to run the Indianapolis Division for Sentry and spent almost 6 years leading her team and growing the business for Sentry, in addition to continuing to manage communities and work directly with various Board members.
In late 2023, after knowing Matt Lutz for approximately 12 years, she embraced the opportunity he presented to her with open arms, in making a career change and becoming Partner of HOA Community Links. Owning her own company had always been a dream for Cristy and being able to work with Matt, knowing his extensive knowledge in successful entrepreneurship, was an exciting opportunity she couldn’t refuse.
Cristy is a member the Legislative Action Committee for the Central Indiana Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute) and has served on the Committee since 2018. She enjoys working with her colleagues and local Indiana legislators to help guide how new potential laws will affect the Association Management industry, and more importantly the homeowners of Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
Family always comes first for Cristy, and she also has a huge love for all animals. But what keeps her going in the Association Management industry is the ability to help and educate homeowners across the City and surrounding areas. She will continue to work diligently to improve home ownership and maintain property values for her fellow Hoosiers.
